Google Reader – The Bloganizer
If you have never read a blog before this one or you check them daily I recommend Google Reader. Google Reader is a free blog organizer that lets you keep up with updates and news from your favorite blogs all in one place. This How To will walk you through setting up a free Google account that can be used for everything Google and using Google Reader to subscribe to this blog.
Lets jump in – Under Blogroll on the right click Google Reader. If you already have a Google account from Gmail then type in your username and password, if not click Create an Account. Fill in all the boxes. A verification email will be sent to your email address, open the email and click the link to verify. Once Google Reader opens you have the option to “Take a Tour” I suggest that if this is your first blog to take the tour. But if you want to go ahead and subscribe to this blog make sure you click “Add Subscription” on the left menu bar. The box will expand, type techdave.edublogs.org and click “Add”. You have just subscribed to this blog. You can see all the posts and pages from my blog and when new ones are added.
Now to find more interesting blogs use the search at the top of the pages – you can search recipes, sports, Eagles, shopping deals, pretty much anything. Then subscribe to more blogs that interest and help you. And by using Google Reader you can view all of them in one place!
One little hush, hush hint: If you have a blog you like that you have found at home, but the web blocker blocks, you can subscribe through Google Reader and still read the blogs without going to the pages. Shhhh
So now you are all ready to step out into the new world of blogs and Google Reader is there to help you on your journey, be safe and have fun.
